The Johnny Normal Synthetic Sunday Radio Show achieved almost cult status, actively supporting international emerging independent talent between 2012 and 2024, providing a helpful platform for innovative music acts to showcase their current material. Originally broadcast on Radio Happy, before moving to Radio Warwickshire in 2015. In 2019 the show switched to a new world-wide station Artefaktor Radio. In 2022 following major issues with the management of the station, 10 presenters decided to walk away from the station. Johnny Normal (aka Kurt) formed Big Satsuma Radio with Bridget Gray and Stuart Calder and this fresh internet radio station has continued the ethos of the show... providing a platform for independent artists to be heard alongside their peers.
In addition the Johnny Normal Synthetic Sunday Radio Show featured performing icons since the 1970's with album reviews, gig reviews and interviews. Features have included Wolfgang Flur, Erasure, Adam Ant, Republica, Public Image Ltd, Steve Strange, Martyn Ware, Gary Numan, Blancmange, Jean-Michel-Jarre, Mari Wilson, Wendy James, Leee John... and many more.
